Defining torture

from Passion of the Christ

The basic definition of torture is that contained in the United Nations Convention Against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment:

"... 'torture' means any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind, when such pain or suffering is inflicted by or at the instigation of or with the consent or acquiescence of a public official or other person acting in an official capacity. It does not include pain or suffering arising only from, inherent in or incidental to lawful sanctions."

More info about torture and the victims here.

"You've made our dog gay!"

Haha... On TV, a gay couple have a dog they want to compete with but the dog's testicles hasn't dropped yet and they can't compete with a dog without dropped testicles, that is why one of the guys said that. I know, this is a really silly blogpost :-) Ok, I need to change channel, NOW.

Much better. CBS 60 minutes. Let's see what it is about today. Danes in the US? Success? Money = happiness? I'll watch this and leave the computer now.

Pink & furry

I wonder if they have one in a lighter, cooler version for the summer :-)

France thought Pippi was dangerous

Pippi i Frankrike

Clupea harengus + cassis

I am eating "sill", very common on the Swedish table at Christmas, Easter and Midsummer. I just bought some with black current taste, eating it straight from the jar with my built-in "tools". Mmmm...

Welcome to the New Land of Big Brother a la Suède!

Questionable questions?

Conversation today:

Nat: Who owns X? A or B?
Person: They lay locally here.
Nat: Who OWNS X? A or B?
Person: You use a script to...and they lay here.
Nat: Beep beep beep! WHO OWNS THE FREAKING THINGS?

Several minutes later I understand that X is NOT owned by A. Good, that was ALL I wanted to know. I ask for ownership and the anwer I get is a location...

Seriously, why do people seem to "refuse" to answer the extremly straight forward question where the answer is eg. "yes/no/sometimes/I don't know", "a/b/both/neither/I don't know"? Very frustrating. I start to wonder sometimes if I am stupid. Why don't people understand what I am saying, is my Swedish/English really that bad?!

Insane in the brain!!!

I am so angry! How the beeeeping beeep beep can they even think like that?! What the HELL is wrong with the Alliance (all the parties to the right)?! Have they lost their mind totally? In just a moment the Swedish people's integrity will be decided, will the FRA have the power to check all electronic mail etc. that crosses the borders of Sweden or not? Their speech of "freedom" is obvious just one fucking nothing! They don't care, they don't want the best for the Swedish people in the long run and they most certainly have no credibility to their core value, freedom. There is only freedom for control and none for the individual. What's also frightning is that the socialdemocrats, at least some of them in the party, probably is a little happy about the law but the vote no just because they are in opposition and they would probably not trash the law if they would regain the power.

If the bill passes, I would really like to try to make Swedes join together, get new e-mail accounts and send as many emails to people abroad filled with "dangerous" words, just to make the FRA work with stupid things.

I am scared.

Karim's Unicorn

THIS would be a cool thing to have in the hall. Maybe they are a little big but I still like them very much. It is designed by Karim Rashid.

Thomas Crown

Listen 1 min 20 sec into the clip. Very nice music, even for you dad...

Buy OLW!

Yes, can you imagine...I am advising you to buy a specific brand, in this case OLW instead of eg. Estrella. Why? Because they use sunflower oil instead of palm oil which contributes to rain forests being devastated. Since I can remember, I have always prefered to buy Estrella because of the taste buy I have broken up with them and from now on I only buy OLW. You know what, my favorites, sourcream and onion taste GREAT by OLW, to my surprice. So by buying OLW instead of eg. Estrella, you stop SOME OF YOUR contribution

* of rain forest devastated
* extermination of animals
* fulling the climate change
* and be more healthy

Palm oil is in all kinds of food. Every time it says "vegetable oil", it can be palm oil and it is everywhere! Take some time when buying food, check out the table of contents and you'll see that palm oil is or can be everywhere.

Natasja at IKEA

I am Natasja...click here. Haha... I have several of these in my home by the way.

Open home

My mother has always said to us children that we should use all the things from our upbringing that we think are good when we raise our own children and the rest, well, just get rid of it. There is one thing that I most definitely want to pass on to my future children (shit, did I just screw up my possibilities to get a job by saying that I, a woman, is planning to get children one day?? I am DOOOOMED!). That is to have an open home with lots of people visitng from all over the world, relatives, friends and friend's friends. Having extra couches here and there, having an extra person at the breakfast table and go see attractions nearby that I usually don't even go see myself otherwise. Have long talks over a glas of wine at night at the porch about all kinds of stuff.

The sand and the stone

sten'.

Hagelin

"A decision about reopening the case of Dagmar Hagelin's disappearance is about to be taken in Argentina. The hopes have become stronger after progress in another case from the Argentine dictatorship." TT (my translation)

A little about Dagmar Hagelin here.

So called choice

From The Matrix:

Morpheus: Everything begins with choice.

Merovingian: No. Wrong. Choice is an illusion, created between those with power, and those without.

I'll get back to this topic later, I have plenty to say about the concept of "choice" when it comes to politics.

The Bullet

The power of you raising your voice!

I am so tired of people saying that they don't do anything because it is useless. According to that they should never vote nor try to help a friend or someone in the family because either they can do something, big or small, or they can't do anything. Then it is a different thing if one choose NOT to do anything because of some other reason but as long as people don't say it is pointless, it is ok.

Freckels

They stop hiding in the summer. I get as surprised every year after spending some time in the sun when they show again. :-) I like them. I know someone who has MANY :-)

I hope...

...that things are getting better Nelson!

Pointless stuff sucks

Why isn't it easier to cut pointless things out of your life? I vote for more points and less pointlessness.

What it means

1. This is what it is....I have no idea how to translate the words so showing pics is better.

2. Why I wrote that? Someone tried to describe some beings in a cartoon movie (a very bad movie by the way). I just thought if sounded very funny to describe them like thatl

"Spikbollar och axelvaddar"

HA HA HA

Are YOU doing unpaid work at home?

A man was sick and tired of going to work every day while his wife stayed home.

He wanted her to see what he went through so he prayed:
'Dear Lord: I go to work every day and put in 8 hours while my wife merely stays at home. I want her to know what I go through. So, please allow her body to switch with mine for a day. Amen!'

God, in his infinite wisdom, granted the man's wish. The next morning, sure enough, the man awoke as a woman.

He arose, Cooked breakfast for his mate,
Awakened the children,
Set out their school clothes,
Fed them breakfast,
Packed their lunches,
Drove them to school,
Came home and
Picked up the dry cleaning,
Took it to the cleaners and
Stopped at the bank to make a deposit,
Went grocery shopping,
Then drove home to put away the groceries,
Paid the bills and balanced the check book.
He cleaned the cat's litter box and bathed the dog.
Then, it was already 1P.M.

He hurried to make the beds,
Do the laundry,
Vacuum,
Dust and
Sweep and mop the kitchen floor.
Ran to the school to pick up the children and
Got into an argument with them on the way home.
Set out milk and cookies and
Got the children organized to do their homework.
Then, set up the ironing board and watched TV while he did the ironing.

At 4:30
He began peeling potatoes
And washing vegetables for salad,
Breaded the pork chops and
Snapped fresh beans for supper.
After supper,
He cleaned the kitchen,
Ran the dishwasher,
Folded laundry,
Bathed the children,
And put them to bed.

At 9 PM
He was exhausted and,
Though his daily chores weren't finished,
He went to bed
Where he was expected to make love,
Which he managed to get through without complaint.

The next morning, he awoke and immediately knelt by the bed and said: - 'Lord, I don't know what I was thinking. I was so wrong to envy my wife's being able to stay home all day. Please, oh! Oh! Please, LET US TRADE BACK. Amen!'

The Lord, in his infinite wisdom, replied: 'My son, I feel you have learned your lesson and I will be happy to change things back to the way they were. You'll just have to wait NINE months, though. You got pregnant last night!"

Makes people talk

Those who know me knows that I talk a lot. In some cases people might think that I might not always let others talk so much but I have at least two examples where I actually have made more or less quiet persons talk MORE, at least with me. What I am saying is that BECAUSE I talk so much, I stimulate them to talk more! One even said straight out that she talks more if the other person talks a lot :-) I spent an entire day with her and the subject came up. She is often seen as a quiet and calm person but I just said, thinking of all the conversations we just had, that she isn't like that. That is when she told me that I made her talk more. Så det så!
