Christian & Gay

I wonder if there are any atheist camps? Shouldn't there be if there are religious camps? Watching an interesting program named "Camp Out" (In Swedish "Young, Christian & Gay"). Seeing it, it also makes me miss going camping like I did when I was younger. I especially remembers when I was 15 and went to Brazil. I miss that so and I miss the people. I wonder what they are doing nowadays. None of them are gay though, well, as far as I know :-)

"Amerikansk dokumentär från 2006. I denna dokumentär får vi följa 10 deltagare på det första sommarlägret för unga kristna homosexuella. Under en veckas tid i en öppen miljö får de träffa andra som befinner sig i samma situation. Tillsammans med stöttande ledare diskuterar de sin sexualitet och sin tro. Kan man vara kristen och gay? Originaltitel: Camp Out."

I especially like the scene where they show when one of the camp leaders became a priest. He stands in the crowded church, there are several hundred people there (usually there is just 100-200). Everybody standing around him with their hands on him and someone asks the crowd if they receive him as a servant of God. All together they say "we do" and starts clapping their hands and they don't stop! The man is so touched and starts to cry. That was great to see. It had been a long and hard fight for him against his church and finally he could become the priest as he had longed for so much. Although, ELCA does not accept him as a priest but who cares? :-)

"I am so tired of hearing about all those young people who commit suicide just because they are gay. I don't want to hear about it any more." (the priest)
