"Give it away"

Anthony sings about giving it away... "It" is for the moment the fact that in some cases, and I am sure in mine, you can tell a lot about a person by reading about their interests and favorite things (movies, music, books etc.). Some time ago I talked to a person and after a while he asked if I'm a person who stand for X, Y and Z opinions based on quite a few things that I had mentioned. He was pretty much right. Well, I prefer to be a person that other (think) they know than being a big "I don't know, I don't care-person". On the other hand, people can be judgemental just because they know the outlines of what I/people believe in but not how, why and all the other things that makes me and the beliefs that I have.

An example that I have mentioned before is that of being "naive" just because I object to injustice etc. I'm not a baby and think that there can ever be a "perfect world". What separates people like me and those that simple says that "that's just the way the world is." is thinking it is ok that other are killed, abused and living the hell on earth. I can't except it. Not my loss that others live their life detached with little or no empathy and never further away from their own safe (naive?) one or two square meters that might constitute the personal space.

Brain Drain Writing

I think that is a pretty good name for what some do, including me here on INCH and others in others forms than in a blog. It is exactly that, emptying all the extra stuff popping up in the head and then letting others chose whether they'd like to read it or not. It doesn't matter what kind of writing it is, things that nobody cares about, serious things, lyrics etc. It is kind of liberating and if there were more time I would write even more. My stack of things to write about (not the least based on articles) is quite big. On the other hand, I have no plans to stop blogging for quite a while.

Ahh... it feels good :-) A simple pleasure when other things aren't as pleasant...

Sweden losing pace?

Every now and then people complain that Sweden is losing pace compared to other countries. I don't whether that is as true as some argue or not. I know one thing though. There has obviously not been enough research on the energy problem. We had the nuclear voting in March 1980 where the people said that in Sweden, nuclear power is to have been phased out by the year 2010. 27 years later and the power plants are still here...

"Sweden second on research top

Sweden stakes* relatively more on research and development than any other country in the world, except for Israel, according to SCB**. But as a proportion of the Gross National Product (GNP) the investments has dropped from 3,95 to 3,88 percent."

My good friend, Miss Camera

This is my beloved camera that has been with me everywhere I gone since Christmas 2006. If you look closely (click), you'll see that it is pretty used but t works and sometimes it takes pretty good photos. It must be one of the best gifts I've gotten! Some of you might have seen "The Paparazzi" in action? As my mother always said when I was younger, "practice makes perfect" and I'm practicing, a lot :-D So far I have taken about 8 800 pictures with it. 1,5 years = 550 days. 8800/550 = 16 photos/day!

Gemini

One can say whatever about astrology and I don't believe in it really, I just find it amusing since it feels like the basic and most important things when it comes to twins feels like a personally written piece about ME.

I am beat right now so I won't even try to translate this but those who knows me a little bit more already knows some of this.

"Kardinal dekad, 21 – 31 maj

Laughing business

I've heard/read somewhere that girls/women laughs more than boys/men do. I don't really know why but I have a feeling that it might have something to do with socialisation, as so many other things. As a former friend always used to say (and probably still does); "anyhows"... I laugh quite a lot and at things that many don't seem to find amusing enough to actually laugh so I am very "girlie" I guess. There are a few(!) people that really can make me laugh when they write to me. Every now and then I laugh so much that my belly muscles hurts because of the contractions the laughing causes.

What caused writing this blog post today of all days is talking about Turkey, milk, deserts and bad spelling (none of the subjects having to do with each other). Btw, I already knew about Turkey (K-Å told me).

...och förresten, jag bugar och bockar (eller niger om det är att föredra)... tack!

Do you have any idea how much this tickles?! Totto (parents little parrot) found it very interesting to pull, gently bite and play with the piercings.

On the road

Lilacs everywhere

There has been lots of lilacs lately all around. It smells good but most of all it reminds me of all the lilacs in Bratislava! In a city that might not be perceived as very green, compared to other places, I must say that there are loads of beautiful lilacs everywhere. This picture was taken not long ago, here in Sweden.

Normal weekend

Wow, this weekend I have felt almost normal. Doing normal things in a normal way. That is more unusual than people might think. I like it. Just too bad I know that it won't happen again for a very long time.

Between the lines

I really like blogger but there are some small annoying things, like the difficulties to ensure that the spaces between the lines are the same while writing the text and when published. If you don't understand what I am talking about, just take a look down under ;-) "Why why why"

While talking about blogger, I have a problem as you've probably noticed. Sometimes the text disappears and you have to fiddle around a little to be able to read it. I'm not sure what to do about it, I just know that I don't want to do anything that would change the looks of INCH. I don't want any of the other templates, this suits me very well of a couple of reasons. I really like the colours but they are also very nice to my eyes = don't give me headaches as light surfaces and light in general do.

Why why why?

I am a bit lazy today and will here only paste something my sister sent to me:
Why, Why, Why...do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting dead?
Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough money?
Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?
Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?
Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?
Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?
Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?
Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"?
If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?
Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?
Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?
Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?
Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?
Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first try?
How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?
When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, "It's all right?" Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, "That hurt, you stupid idiot?"
Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?
In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?
How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?
The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four persons is suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends - - if they're okay, then it's you.

New addition

...in the blog and music world, let me introduce Mr Peter Douglas's links:-) Well, it's not new, just new as a link here on INCH.

and

www.myspace.com/mcchilli (older version of him = different style)

...and no, this is NOT him.

An 80ies thing?

"nej, det är en 80-talsgrej att bo i det land man kommer från"
"no, it's an 80ies thing to live in the country you come from"

That is a good comment a friend made. Who wants to "do an 80ies thing"? ;-) Along blue mascara and poodle hair... Haha.

Joey Tempest was the singer in Europe.

Saxy guys

A few boys and a girl made most people of all ages dance in Linköping, with a few exceptions... Unfortunalty I can't remember their name but they played Swedish reagge/pop/...

6 months

Just because I made the last, tiny hole in my ear not long ago, I can't give blood for 6 months :-S I had forgotten about that. Well, it's a nice evening for a walk anyway. Chilly though...

Bourbon-Head

Streams of Whiskey

Last night as I slept
I dreamt I met with Behan (irländsk författare)
I shook him by the hand and we passed the time of day
When questioned on his views
On the crux of lifes philosophies
He had but these few clear and simple words to say

I am going, I am going
Any which way the wind may be blowing
I am going, I am going
Where streams of whiskey are flowing

I have cursed, bled and sworn
Jumped bail and landed up in jail
Life has often tried to stretch me
But the rope always was slack
And now that I've a pile
I'll go down to the Chelsea
I'll walk in on my feet
But I'll leave there on my back

Because I am going, I am going
Any which way the wind may be blowing
I am going, I am going
Where streams of whiskey are flowing

Oh the words that he spoke
Seemed the wisest of philosophies
Theres nothing ever gained
By a wet thing called a tear
When the world is too dark
And I need the light inside of me
I'll walk into a bar
And drink fifteen pints of beer

I am going, I am going
Any which way the wind may be blowing
I am going, I am going
Where streams of whiskey are flowing

Ps. This post is what one could call a "guest starring the Bourbon Head". I only add the following youtube as a complement.

Ps2. I don't think that a God, if any, has anything to do with the existence of whiskey, sorry...

Whiskey + men

What is it about men and whiskey?! There are two things that to taste like crap (in general) and that is coffee and whiskey but still I have both friends, family and collegues at work who seem to love whiskey, both to drink and to talk about. A friend even decorates his home with it...but I wonder what his wife thinks about that ;-)

"Bloggers Thrown In Jail"

"Egypt. A [appellations]court has set the punishment to four years for a young Egyptian blogger. The 22 year old Abd el-Karim Suleiman was convicted last month* of having insulted the religion and backbited the president. An appeal was made but was rejected by the court yesterday, stated his attorney."

Mmm...

A small favorite that I want to put here. I had the exact same pic on my old website. It's not a random choice of pic.

Update on the condom issue

From the safest source I have, an American friend, tells me that "i think around 8 dollars for like a 12 of them", which means:

$0,67 /condom

$176 million/ $0,67 = 262 686 567 condoms

That is a lot of nice, safe sex that prevents loads of unwanted babies and sexually transmitted diseases! The better people are at using condoms and other contraceptives, the fewer are the needed abortions... Wouldn't that be better for all? Humans are sexual beings and refusing to realize that is so naive that I don't have words for it. Taking responsibility hasn't got anything to do with "forcing" people not doing what is natural and enjoyable. Taking responsibility is doing the natural and enjoyable thing in a SAFE way! Teach them that instead!

If a person really want to wait until the wedding night, that person will do that because he or she feels that that is the right thing for him or her. As far as I have heard and understood, that can be very, very difficult but putting blame and give people a guilty conscience has never as I have seen or heard of, helped anyone!

P as in Pope

Iron Swedes

Statistics:

"Every third Swede iron his/her clothes at least once a week and then most often in the living room. Swedes are the people in Scandinavia who iron the most."

Source: Bosch

Nice to know that *I* am not the weird one actually ironing my clothes! It look like shit when people, especially if it isn't a sweater. Many seem to think that it doesn't show but they are quite wrong.

"Young Have Sex - Despite Bush"

"The American government stakes each year about 176 million dollars (1,2 billion SEK) on teaching 11-12 yearsold not to have sex before marriage. Several hundred of such educational programs is going on around the US. The follow up which has been done recently shows that those who has participated in the projects have their sexual debut at the same average age, 14,9 years as others."

TT, my translation

I wonder how many condoms you can buy for 176 million dollars?
